Rarely do I ever feel completely relaxed. My brain is always on. It is seldom that I am able to just tune everything out and off.
So today is my sons 16th birthday and I promised myself that I would turn everything off and focus on him for as long as a 16 year old would allow on his birthday. Well, his birthday request was to go to Itchatucknee Springs and go tubing so that is what we did. There was no cell service and no wifi. Floating down that river in a tube was the most relaxed I have been in a very long time UNTIL… From behind I hear music. I instantly became annoyed even though it was music I like. As the music approached I kept thinking who on earth brings electronics down the river. I was no longer relaxed, the people chatting and the children screaming as they splashed each other didn’t bother me, but as the music floated up to us and passed us I hear others making the same comments that are going on in my head. I didn’t let it ruin the day but it was annoying.
There are some times and places that electronics even with music should not be a part of. It made me realize how important it is to just unplug sometimes. It’s good for the soul and the heart.
